Control

The Control screens present the discovered devices with arrays or loudspeakers displayed in rows. Four tabs – Audio, Telemetry, SysNav Network and Dante Network – display and control different sets of parameters. Click/touch an array name or loudspeaker name in the Go To column to view information and adjust settings for arrays or individual loudspeakers.

Overview: Arrays and Loudspeakers

Before going further, it’s useful to understand the difference between individual loudspeakers and arrays in SysNav.

When an L Class array is assembled and powered on, each loudspeaker senses that it is part of an array. The AWAREClosed Automatic Wireless Array Recognition (AWARE™) is a system using infrared communication links and internal accelerometers to allow active line-array loudspeakers to determine that they are a members of an array, their position in the array and their relative and absolute deployment angle. function determines how many other loudspeakers are part of the physical array. But the array members are still individual loudspeakers that retain whatever settings they had when last used. As such, they cannot be controlled as an array, only as individual loudspeakers. To become an array, they have to be “Optimized”.

What is optimization?

OptimizationClosed An array is Optimized when the DSP settings of the array members all match and the appropriate filters have been applied based on information provided by QSC AWARE™ regarding the number of array member loudspeakers and total splay. Also see Ar-Q. sets the array members to their default DSP settings and applies array compensation appropriate for the number of loudspeakers in the array and the coverage of the array. An array can be optimized using the loudspeaker's rear control panel or from SysNav:

  • Rear control panel: On any array member loudspeaker, push and hold the rotary encoder.

  • SysNav: From the control screen, touch the array name button in the Go To column, select the Array tab, and touch/click the yellow Optimization Apply button.

Note: If an array has been previously Optimized and its configuration is unchanged, it will continue to be Optimized after a power cycle.

Common Controls and Indicators

Some controls and indicators on the list screen are maintained regardless of the Audio, Telemetry or Network tabs selection.

Tip: If the device list is too long to fit on the screen, the list can be dragged up or down on touchscreen devices. Mouse users can collapse arrays or use the mouse’s scroll wheel.

Always Available

These controls are available when any tab is selected. From left to right, these columns and their respective functions are:

  • >/v (Expand/Collapse) – Allows a list to be expanded to include constituent elements or collapsed to only show the highest level.

  • Select – Displays an icon representing the type of item the row represents (array or individual loudspeaker) along with text that provides further definition. Touch the field to select the item. When an item is selected, the master section on the right of the screen provides controls and indication for the item.

  • Go To – Displays the name of an array or loudspeaker. Touch/click the field to access all available controls, settings, and indications for the item. See Array Settings.

  • ID – Is used to correlate physical devices with their virtual representation in the app. The ID button on the app will illuminate the ID LED on a physical counterpart. The ID button on a physical device will light the ID button on its SysNav counterpart.

Note: The ID button is only available once the array has been optimized. See Overview: Arrays and Loudspeakers.

Audio and Telemetry Tabs Only

  • Status

    • Green check – Connected and working.

    • Yellow ! – Connection has been lost.

  • Mute – Mutes the array or individual loudspeaker.

    • Once an array is Optimized, it is not possible to mute array members individually.

    • An array that has not been Optimized cannot be muted. Individual loudspeakers may be.

  • Mute All / Unmute All – These buttons, located between the tabs and the list control the mute state of all arrays and loudspeakers.

The right side of the screen displays master controls and indicators for the selected array or loudspeaker. From top to bottom, these are:

  • Label / Select – Displays the name of the selected array or loudspeaker. Touch or click to access additional controls and indicators for the selection.

  • ID – Described above.

  • Mute – Described above.

  • Status Icon – Described above.

  • Limiter – Indicates the amount of gain reduction that is being applied to the item. As is typical for a gain reduction meter, movement is from top to bottom.

  • Level Meter – This is a typical audio level meter. The entire meter will turn red to indicate that the loudspeaker is being overdriven.

  • Fader – Adjusts the audio level.
